Floyd Mayweather blamed as Chris Eubank Sr accuses son of being "a greedy pig"

Chris Eubank Sr feels his son Chris Jr is acting like a "pig" with his flash lifestyle, blaming his interest in Floyd Mayweather as a key factor.

The pair's relationship has been fractured over the past few months, particularly when Eubank Jr accepted a big-money offer to face Conor Benn at a career-low catchweight of 157lb against his father's wishes. The bout didn't end up happening when Benn failed a drug test, but that hasn't stopped the legendary boxer from speaking out.

He feels his son's interest in following Mayweather's example and showing off his luxury cars and other extravagant purchases is not proper for a fighter. He would rather his son follow in the footsteps of past champions who showed more humility.

"Unfortunately Jr doesn't understand and doesn't believe in me," Eubank Sr told Spencer Fearon on his YouTube channel. "I believe in him but he doesn't believe in me and sadly, it's come to the point where, when you no longer care, it means I'd let go. He manages himself and looks after himself and I say 'fine', I've done nothing but gift this young man a career, a name, a face.

"The respect that I garnered from all those years, those 24 world championship fights; never mind the wins, just look at the losses. Then look at the men that I had to beat, and then what? I'm going to have my boy tell me how to do this, tell me he's boss? He just doesn't appreciate how good things have always been.

"But it's by the by now and look here now, you see, you've got people that you aspire to be like, he picked Floyd Mayweather Jr because he shows the bling, he shows the planes, he shows the money, he shows the girls, the clubs. I admire the man, he is a brilliant and fabulous fighter.

"I admire him as a fighter, as a man - don't talk to me about him. Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali, they're men, they lead by example. You're teaching my boy to be a bling bling kid, he's looking up to you Mr Mayweather. No, and that's why he didn't listen. Now, the world is looking at him as though he's a greedy little pig and I tried to keep him away from that. When I look at a fighter I look at the spirit in the man."

Eubank Sr attempted to have the fight cancelled long before Benn failed his drug test, but Jr persisted, even weighing in under 160lb on the already-cancelled fight day. He had appeared at the pre-fight launch event on Monday in his plush sports car, and seemed confident that he would be able to defy the difficult weight cut to pick up a win.

Eubank Jr would also troll his rival with videos in the lead-up to the fight where he would gorge on junk food, indicating that the weight cut would be easy. He also created the catchphrase "60 per cent baby," joking that he could beat Benn even if he came to the ring at just 60 per cent.
