Floral tributes have started to be left at the scene of where a body was found after the devastated family of Peter Kerevan said it is believed to be his.
The 76-year-old Aintree man went missing on July 29, and his family have now said that a body found in Fazakerley, on Tuesday night, is believed to be him.
The family posted the tragic news on social media and thanked the thousands who tried to find dementia sufferer Peter.
It prompted an outpouring of grief and poignant tributes online.
And now floral tributes have been left at the scene, in grassland off Valley Road, in Fazakerley, close to Kirkby Golf Course.
Pictures from the scene this morning show several bouquets close to where emergency services were called, shortly before 6pm, on Tuesday after the body was found by dog walkers.
Police forensic officers and a funeral van were later seen in the field before a body was taken away from the scene.

Although the body has not been formally identified, the family of 76-year-old Peter have said that the body matches his description and that police believe it is him.

They posted an update to Facebook on Wednesday evening to thank those who had helped them with their search and to express their heartbreak at the news.
The family said: "It is with a heavy heart that we write this update. We have asked for all of your help over the past few weeks to help find Peter.
"We now believe we have found Peter, however unfortunately it is not the happy ending we had hoped for.
"The family have been informed that the body found near Kirkby golf course matches the description and clothing of Peter and the police believe it is him.
"DNA testing may take a few days for Peter to be formally identified. As you can imagine our hearts are broken and we know all of your hearts will be broken too."
Last night comments and posts on social media were dedicated to Mr Kerevan and his loved ones.

Margaret Daley said: "So sad to hear the news that Peter Kerevan has been found not a happy outcome.
"He was my late husband's family member and he welcomed me into their family. He was always so friendly and sociable. He was an amazing human being."
"I have been thinking of his family, Peter, Julie and Matty. My thoughts are with you. R.I.P Peter."

Others paying tribute included Sarah Connors Brady who said: "Peter has certainly left a mark on our hearts and brought our community together.
"I hope, with time, that the family will take some shred of comfort in knowing that so many of us cared.
"Rest peacefully now ‘Aintree’s Peter’."
Merseyside Police have said steps to formally identify the body are underway and added: ”The death is being treated as unexplained and is not believed to be suspicious.”
