Florida Woman Arrested For Hit-And-Run On Teenager

Woman arrested for leaving scene of crash with injuries and driving with suspended license.

A Florida woman, Sarah Wright, 37, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a crash with injuries and driving with a suspended license after allegedly striking a 16-year-old boy with her truck in Deltona, Florida.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Gage Avenue and Noah Street, where the teenager was using the crosswalk while riding his scooter home from Pine Ridge High School. The boy was hit by a black Chevrolet Silverado, resulting in a serious laceration to the back of his head and an arm injury.

Despite the injuries, the victim remained alert and conscious after the crash. A witness who heard the collision reported that Wright initially checked on the boy before covering her license plate with paper and tape in an attempt to flee the scene.

However, the witness was able to provide a partial license plate number, and a neighborhood Ring camera captured the truck speeding away from the scene. With the help of this information, officials located a suspect vehicle on a nearby License Plate Reader camera within minutes.

Wright was apprehended in Flagler County with the assistance of the Florida Highway Patrol and the Flagler County Sheriff's Office. She was subsequently booked into the Flagler County Jail on a $3,500 bond.

The teenage victim required staples for the laceration and treatment for his arm injury but is expected to make a full recovery. The quick actions of the witness and law enforcement led to the swift apprehension of the suspect in this hit-and-run incident.
