A Florida teen who orchestrated the brutal 2021 murder of his high school classmate using a sword was sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty.

On October 17, 2021, 18-year-old Dwight "DJ" Grant was reported missing. His body was discovered two days later in bushes near his Miramar apartment complex, NBC Miami reported.

Investigators determined that Grant was allegedly lured into a stairwell by two teenage girls, Christie Parisien and Jaslyn Smith, before being stabbed to death by Andre Clements, who was 17 at the time.

The murder was allegedly motivated by jealousy, as Clements believed Grant had been involved with his ex-girlfriend.

In 2023, Parisien and Smith pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and received 25-year prison sentences. Clements initially attempted to have his case dismissed on a technicality, but ultimately accepted a plea deal.

On Tuesday, Clements, now 20, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with evidence. The judge sentenced him to 40 years in prison, followed by lifetime probation.
