Space Launch Delta 45 has issued a warning that winds exceeding 58 mph are expected to hit Florida within the next 48 hours. This announcement has prompted Patrick Space Force Base and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station to enter Hurricane Condition III, indicating the anticipation of destructive winds, as per the Navy's definition.
As a result of the impending severe weather conditions, NASA has made the decision to postpone the launch of the Europa Clipper mission. The rocket intended for this mission has been rolled back into the SpaceX hangar for safety reasons.
In addition to the mission delay, the return of the Crew-8 astronauts from the International Space Station has also been affected. The scheduled splashdown of the astronauts has been pushed back to at least Sunday, in light of the approaching hurricane-force winds.
