Florida Sheriff Goes Off on Parents of 'Little Bastards' Behind Hoax School Threats: 'Do Your Job'

A sheriff from Florida warned parents during a news conference on Friday to do their job or else they can expect officers to "come after" anyone whose kids threaten to do any harm at school.

Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood made this announcement to avoid his department from wasting unnecessary time and resources on investigating false threats at school from students. Chitwood gave the warning alongside Volusia Public Schools officials and said his department had received 54 threats through the Fortify Florida app in under 24 hours.

"This is absolutely out of control and it ends now," Chitwood said.

According to the sheriff, there have been a total of 207 threats reported this year alone.

"That means investigators in the school district have been running around the clock to investigate these tips, which are all turning out to be false," Chitwood said. "So far, it's cost $21,000 to do these investigations."

Chitwood claims that seven individuals have been arrested for making threats to kill others. There have also been 11 weapons reported to have been on public school campuses.

"Since, parents, you don't want to raise your kids, I'm going to start raising them. Every time we make an arrest, your kid's photo is going to be put out there," Chitwood said. "If I can any way find out that a parent knew what was going on and wasn't doing anything, your a-- is getting perp walked with 'em."
