ORLANDO, Fla. — SeaWorld Orlando and Universal Studios theme parks are returning parades to their entertainment lineups.
Universal’s Superstar Parade cranked up in late June. It features themed floats and characters from “Despicable Me,” “The Secret Life of Pets,” “SpongeBob SquarePants” as well as Dora and Diego.
The first version of this parade debuted at Universal Orlando in 2012.
SeaWorld’s Sesame Street Party Parade begins again July 10 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday. The attraction, which makes a stop in the park’s Sesame Street Land, includes characters such as Big Bird and Elmo. The parade, which debuted in 2019, occurs multiple times daily. It’s listed on the SeaWorld website as being performed at 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. on reopening day.
The parades have been mostly idle since Central Florida’s theme parks closed for the coronavirus pandemic in March 2020. Magic Kingdom’s Festival of Fantasy parade has not yet returned; Walt Disney World has instead offered character caravans — on floats, cars, carriages and water vehicles — in smaller batches in its four theme parks since reopening last summer.
