As Hurricane Helene approaches the Big Bend of Florida, residents are once again bracing themselves for the impact of a powerful storm. One such resident, Jules Carl, who experienced Hurricane Idalia just over a year ago while pregnant, is now facing the challenges of riding out another storm with her hurricane baby, Kai.

Describing Hurricane Helene as 'unbelievably huge,' Carl emphasized the importance of being prepared for the worst. Alongside her husband, three kids, and pets, they have stocked up on food and water and have taken necessary precautions to secure their home.

Despite the magnitude of the storm, Carl and her family have chosen not to evacuate, opting to stay with their belongings and feeling safe in their prepared environment. This decision reflects their resilience and determination to weather the storm together.

Having experienced six previous hurricanes during her time in Florida, Carl highlighted the strength of their tight-knit community in facing adversity. Steinhatchee, the small town that weathered Hurricane Idalia just a year ago, is once again uniting to confront the challenges brought by Hurricane Helene.

As the winds pick up and the storm approaches, residents like Jules Carl serve as a reminder of the courage and solidarity that define communities in the face of natural disasters. Their preparedness and determination stand as a testament to the resilience of those living in hurricane-prone areas.
