Florida Pitcher Jac Caglianone’s Fastball at MCWS Has Fans in Awe

Florida baseball star Jac Caglianone was putting on a show during Game 3 of the Men’s College World Series.

Caglianone, who was pitching in Monday’s game but also plays first base and was the NCAA’s leader in home runs this season, delivered a devastating strikeout against LSU first baseman Tre Morgan to record the final out of the top of the first inning.

Caglianone’s fastball clocked in at 99 mph and was high and inside on Morgan, forcing an awkward swing from the left-handed batter who fell to the floor after whiffing on the pitch.

The 20-year-old could be seen pumping his fist in celebration as he walked off the mound.

While the typical camera angle of the strikeout was electric on its own, the “Ump Cam” view was even better, giving viewers a behind-the-plate look at what Morgan saw coming his way from inside the batter’s box.

It was the second strikeout of the inning for Caglianone, who later struggled during the second frame.

The righthander is projected to be a top pick during the upcoming 2023 MLB draft. In 2023, Caglianone slashed .322/.388/.729 with a league-high 33 home runs, driving in 85 RBI on 88 hits in 69 games.

On the mound, he started 17 games to the tune of a 3.68 ERA, recording 85 strikeouts across 73.1 innings.
