A Florida man, aged 30, from Coral Springs, Florida, was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly plotting to bomb the New York Stock Exchange. The suspect, Harun Abdul-Malik Yener, was charged with attempting to use an explosive device to damage or destroy a building used in interstate commerce.

The investigation into Yener began in February after the FBI received a tip that he was storing bombmaking schematics in a storage unit. Upon searching the unit, law enforcement officials discovered bombmaking sketches, numerous watches with timers, electronic circuit boards, and other electronics that could potentially be used to create explosive devices. It was also revealed that Yener had been searching online for bombmaking-related information since 2017.

During interactions with undercover FBI agents, Yener expressed his desire to detonate the bomb the week before Thanksgiving, with the New York Stock Exchange in Lower Manhattan being identified as a prime target for the attack.

Following his arrest, Yener appeared in court on Wednesday afternoon and will remain in custody pending trial. Attempts to reach him via listed telephone numbers were unsuccessful, and no legal representation was listed in court records.
