A 68-year-old man from Jupiter, Florida, Michael M. Wiseman, was arrested by the Jupiter Police Department for making written threats to kill former President Trump and Sen. JD Vance, as well as their families. The arrest came after Wiseman allegedly posted threats on his Facebook account targeting the Republican presidential nominee and vice presidential nominee, along with members of their families.
The threats, which included bodily harm, were reported to the police by concerned members of the community. Jupiter, Florida, where Wiseman resides, is located approximately 20 miles north of Trump's Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach.
The Jupiter Police Department worked in coordination with the United States Secret Service and the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office to investigate the threats. Wiseman was taken into custody without incident.
Attempted Assassination of President Trump
The threats against Trump and Vance came shortly after a shocking attempt on the life of the former president at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. During the rally, a gunman identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, fired shots at Trump.
Tragically, Corey Comperatore, a firefighter and Trump supporter, was fatally shot in the head, while two others, David Dutch and James Copenhaver, were critically wounded. The incident has sparked concerns about the safety and security of political figures and the need for vigilance against threats of violence.
