Florida Governor Declares Emergency to Combat Illegal Immigration Surge

Deporting millions of immigrants who entered the country in the past three years.

Florida Governor Discusses Immigration Enforcement Strategies

In a recent town hall meeting, Florida Governor addressed concerns regarding immigration and outlined his strategies for enforcing immigration laws. The governor highlighted the importance of dedicating resources to identify and deport individuals who have entered the country illegally.

Acknowledging the presence of millions of immigrants in the country, the governor emphasized the need to take proactive measures in dealing with the issue. While some individuals may already have known information on record, others who recently arrived may still be in proximity to the border. The governor stressed the necessity of allocating resources to apprehend and process such individuals.

Furthermore, the governor condemned the concept of sanctuary cities and states. He emphasized that allowing these entities to exist undermines the enforcement of immigration laws throughout the nation. Highlighting California as an example, he pointed out that the state issues driver's licenses to illegal aliens and even provides health insurance benefits to them, which inadvertently incentivizes illegal immigration.

Promising to take action against such practices, the governor hinted at using the power of the purse to restrict grants and funding to these states and localities. He firmly expressed his resolve to eliminate the rewarding of individuals who choose to enter the country illegally, reinforcing the need for a consistent approach to immigration enforcement.

The governor also drew attention to Florida's unique position as a maritime state. He shared an anecdote about boats coming from Haiti attempting to enter Florida illegally. Recognizing the responsibility of the Coast Guard in patrolling the coast, he explained that due to resource limitations, some boats were successful in bypassing their scrutiny. To combat this, the governor declared a state of emergency and marshaled state maritime resources to assist the Coast Guard. By intercepting these boats and returning the individuals back to Haiti, the governor noted a significant decline in the number of attempts to enter Florida illegally.

Drawing parallels to the situation at the Southern border, the governor emphasized that individuals are willing to pay substantial amounts to smugglers and cartels because they believe that if they successfully cross the border, they will be allowed to stay in the country for several years. He described this scenario as absurd and stressed the need to change the system. He reiterated that if individuals knew that they would be swiftly returned to their home countries upon being caught, they would be deterred from attempting illegal entry altogether.

In conclusion, the governor reasserted his commitment to addressing immigration challenges through a multi-faceted approach. By dedicating resources, challenging sanctuary cities and states, and reinforcing maritime security, the governor aims to ensure that immigration laws are enforced more effectively.
