Florida, Georgia Confirm Site for 2024, ’25 Football Games As TIAA Bank Field Renovations Loom

The annual rivalry game between Florida and Georgia will remain in Jacksonville for the 2024 and the ’25 college football seasons, the programs announced on Wednesday.

The decision comes as the current agreement between the schools and the city of Jacksonville was set to expire after this year’s game. The programs exercised an option to extend the contract for two more seasons and will formally notify Jacksonville leaders of their decisions this week.

“We are pleased with the decision to exercise the option that will keep the game in Jacksonville for 2024 and 2025,” Georgia athletic director Josh Brooks said in a statement. “We look forward to discussions that I’m sure will continue over the next couple years exploring all the options for 2026 and beyond.”

The rivalry game traditionally has been played at TIAA Bank Field, home to the NFL’s Jaguars. However, the stadium is slated to undergo renovations, possibly starting as soon as 2025.

Earlier this month, Jacksonville mayor Lenny Curry noted that the clash between the two SEC East schools could be held at each program’s home stadium for two years while the Jaguars’ stadium is renovated.

The UF-UGA matchup has been played almost exclusively in Jacksonville since 1933. The only exceptions were ’94 and ’95, when TIAA Bank Field was undergoing a round of renovations. During that two-year span, the schools played the game at their respective home fields.
