Florida decommit, Georgia QB target transfers to Wake Forest

Georgia Bulldogs transfer quarterback target Deshawn Purdie announced his decision to transfer to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, according to On3. The sophomore quarterback’s tumultuous transfer portal journey seems to have finally reached a destination.

Purdie was offered by Georgia when he entered the transfer portal, but he committed to the Florida Gators on Dec. 23. However, on Jan. 14th, not even a month later, Purdie withdrew his transfer documents from Florida, meaning he was no longer eligible to transfer in the SEC.

Out of high school, Purdie committed to the Charlotte 49ers as a three-star recruit in the class of 2024. He earned snaps as a freshman with the 49ers, totaling 1,802 yards, 10 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. He completed 50% of his passes, but he didn’t show much mobility. He’ll battle with South Carolina transfer Robby Ashford for the Wake Forest starting job.

Georgia is still on the hunt for a transfer quarterback after the transfer departures of Carson Beck and Jaden Rashada. The Bulldogs have been in talks with transfer quarterbacks from Buffalo and North Carolina recently.
