Residents in Valrico, Florida, east of Tampa, faced unexpected challenges as Hurricane Milton wreaked havoc in the area. Ralph Genito and his wife Tina initially believed they had escaped major damage to their home. However, their situation took a turn for the worse when the nearby Alafia River overflowed, completely surrounding their residence.

On Friday morning, the Genitos found themselves in a dire situation, with water levels rapidly rising. They hastily packed their essentials into trash bags as an airboat hovered near their front porch. Ralph expressed uncertainty about the future, as critical utilities like the septic tank and generator were submerged under water.

Reflecting on the sudden turn of events, Ralph shared his disbelief, stating, 'This area is not supposed to get this way, it’s not supposed to. We’re the last road supposedly that floods.' The couple had to evacuate their home amidst rising waters, with Ralph recounting the emotional experience of packing their belongings as the water level continued to rise.
