Florida basketball coach Todd Golden is currently under investigation by the university for allegations of sexual harassment, sexual exploitation, stalking, and cyberstalking multiple women, including students. The claims include unwanted sexual advances on Instagram, requesting sexual favors, and sending explicit photos and videos. These allegations were detailed in a Title IX complaint filed against Golden on Sept. 27.
Despite the ongoing inquiry, Golden released a statement acknowledging the investigation and mentioned that he is considering defamation claims against his accusers. He has sought legal counsel to navigate this situation while maintaining confidentiality.
Golden, who recently signed a contract extension through 2030, has led the 21st-ranked Gators to a 2-0 start this season. He conducted practice in preparation for an upcoming game against Grambling State.
This is not the first time the University of Florida has dealt with serious allegations against its coaches. In 2021, women's basketball coach Cam Newbauer resigned amid allegations of abuse, while women's soccer coach Tony Amato was fired for inappropriate comments and behavior regarding players' eating habits and body shapes.
Athletic director Scott Stricklin has faced scrutiny for these incidents as well as two NCAA investigations that resulted in probation for the football program and a lawsuit involving a former football signee and a booster.
The university cannot comment on ongoing Title IX investigations due to federal regulations. Golden's future with the Gators remains uncertain as the university continues its review process.
