During a press conference held on Tuesday morning, Governor DeSantis announced that Florida Attorney General Ashely Moody has been assigned to investigate the incident.
Expressing the importance of accountability and transparency, Governor DeSantis emphasized that the public deserves to know the truth behind the attempted assassination. He further stated that Florida would be pursuing the most serious charges possible against the suspect, Ryan Wesley Routh.
Shortly after the shooting took place, Governor DeSantis had already indicated that Florida would be conducting an independent investigation into the matter. Concurrently, federal authorities such as the FBI are also actively involved in investigating the incident.
It is worth noting that House Republicans had previously launched an investigation into the first assassination attempt against Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania. However, it remains uncertain whether they will initiate a similar effort in this case.
