Florence Pugh thinks her mother will “scream” when she shares the surprising discovery she’s made about her ancestry.
The 29-year-old ‘Midsommar’ actress appears in the upcoming National Geographic series ‘No Taste Like Home’ alongside host Antoni Porowski, 40, as he continues taking celebrities on a journey to uncover their family histories through food.
‘Queer Eye’ star Anton travels the world with his guests, delving into their unknown heritage.
In an exclusive clip shared by People, he is seen introducing Florence to her great-great-great-grandparents and their daughter, revealing an unexpected family connection.
He said: “It has been a real delight. But now I want to turn to their daughter and her family.”
The host then asks Florence if she remembers meeting a young ancestor earlier in the episode, asking: “So remember we were introduced to a little Johanna today?”
He adds: “Well, she grew up, and she met a man. A Welshman by the name of Louis Pugh.”
An excited Florence exclaims: “That's where the Pugh came in!”
Antoni confirms: “That's where the Pugh came in. And they got married, and this is their daughter's act of birth.” Handing over the document the star, he asks, “Do you see her name?”
Florence gasps before saying, “No!” then reading aloud: “Florence?! Florence Pugh.”
She pauses in shock in the clip before continuing: “So there's already been – I feel quite emotional – there's already been a Florence Pugh. She was born the 25th of November, 1882. That’s crazy.”
When asked if her family knew of this connection, Florence responds: “No idea. My parents have no idea. I was named after the city. My mom's gonna scream.”
Antoni’s series will also feature celebrities including Awkwafina, Justin Theroux, James Marsden, Issa Rae and Henry Golding, as they explore their ancestral roots through food traditions.
‘No Taste Like Home with Antoni Porowski’ premieres with two episodes on Sunday (23.02.25) at 9pm on National Geographic.
