Florence Pugh singing in her new movie 'A Good Person' is the treat you needed today

Florence Pugh at the A Good Person NYC premiere on March 20, 2023

She's at it again! Florence Pugh singing in A Good Person is just what the doctor ordered. (In addition to the Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield romance movie that's in the works.)

At the film's New York City premiere on Monday, March 20, the Don't Worry Darling actor hit the red carpet (alongside her grandma) sporting a stunning Pierpaolo Piccioli dress: a Florence Pugh fashion moment for the books. As much as we love the gown and a cute grandmother-granddaughter moment, we really can't seem to get over her voice after a clip from the movie surfaced.

"I would have put money on being a singer-songwriter way before being an actor," Pugh confessed to BBC Radio 4's This Cultural Life back in 2022.

When you take a look at her singing in character as Allison, this revelation won't come as a surprise. Her cover of Velvet Underground's "After Hours" is a jazzy, upbeat take on the original, and we're kind of in love.

The film, created by Pugh's ex-boyfriend Zach Braff, is an emotional exploration of grief, but despite the heavy material, her singing at a party has gotten everyone's attention. Even Braff is endlessly impressed by his former girlfriend's capabilities.

"I'm just in awe of her talent and I said, 'I wanna write this for Florence. What I'm writing is really gonna be challenging and she's incredible," he told Entertainment Tonight

What's more is that Pugh also had a hand in creating a tune for the film, only convincing us that a segue into the music industry is a total possibility.

"I've actually got music being released this year. I wrote music for [A Good Person] and that's been a whole exciting experience that I've been desperate to do for years," she told Vogue's podcast The Run-Through

Don't let us stop you, Flo. We're totally up for more!

Of course, Twitter is in agreement.

Florence Pugh singing with Toby Sebastian

Looks like musicality runs in the family! Pugh's brother, Toby Sebastian, is a folk singer with a newly-released single, "Midnights." He has a little accompaniment from his sis on the track, too. But unlike in Pugh's take on the Velvet Underground, she has a much deeper, raspier voice in his folk hit. But regardless of style, we'll listen to whatever she belts out. (And Toby, too, for that matter.)

The actor does actually suffer from tracheomalacia, which can cause upper respiratory infections. However, per her BBC interview, a dip into the music industry is not entirely out of the cards.

"I intend to continue that relationship with the producers and I intend to release music," she said. "It’s something that I have been so conscious of ever since my acting career kind of went like this."

If you need us, we'll just be here manifesting Miss Flo's debut studio album.
