Florence and the Machine cancels tour after singer breaks foot on stage

Florence Welch has announced that the remainder of Florence and the Machine's latest UK and Ireland tour has been postponed, after she sustained an injury to her foot.

The singer, 36, took to Instagram earlier to share the news with their fans. She apologised for the postponing of the remaining dates and said that her "heart is aching".

It comes after the musician reportedly injured her foot whilst performing at the O2 Arena in London last night (November 18). Florence said she's since had it x-rayed.

The band were due to perform at the venue again tonight (November 19) before heading to other cities. Florence said that she has however been advised not to perform.

Sharing the news earlier today, she wrote in a post on social media: "I'm so sorry to say that after an X-ray it seems I was dancing on a broken foot last night.

"It is not in my nature to postpone a show, and certainly not a UK tour, but I'm in pain and as dancers know, dancing on an injury is not a good idea. And I have been told not to perform to avoid further damage."

She continued: "Please hang on to your tickets. We are working our hardest to reschedule these dates for next year and we will let you know as soon as possible."

Florence told her followers that she is "heartbroken" over the news as the Dance Fever tour has been her "favourite" show that the Brit Award winning band have put on.

She concluded by writing: "I love you so much, and I'm so sorry to anyone who is disappointed. My heart is aching. I can't wait to be back on my feet and back in your arms".

The tour - in support of the band's fifth album, Dance Fever - had began earlier this year. The third leg of the tour had kicked off in Paris, France, on Monday (November 14).
