Floral tributes left to 'one in a million' friend found dead on train tracks

A large amount of tributes have been left outside Huyton station after a man was found dead on the tracks last week.

The man, named locally as 'Rikki', was found dead on the train tracks near Huyton Railway Station at around 10.29pm on Thursday, July 21. British Transport Police were called to the station after reports of a body on the tracks.

The force confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious, the man's next of kin have been informed and a file is being prepared for the coroner. The man has been named locally by heartbroken friends as 'Rikki', and a number of moving tributes have been left outside the entrance to the station.

Flowers, balloons and pictures of 'Rikki' have been left tied to the railing. One card reads: "To my friend, I'll never forget you. You really are one in a million. Thanks for all the special memories. You have left us heartbroken Rik. Love you forever 'R' kid."

Another note attached to a bouquet of flowers reads: "Rikki you were loved so much. Rest in peace mate". Another tribute described him as the "kindest soul", with the person writing, "you were always there to save me".

A spokesperson from British Transport Police said: "British Transport Police were called to the line near Huyton at 10.29pm Thursday evening (21 July) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended and sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
