Flock of seagulls swarm Edinburgh Greggs delivery and 'walk all over food'

Footage has emerged that shows a heard of seagulls helping themselves to a whole Greggs delivery that was being unloaded into an Edinburgh store during the day.

The video shows the hungry gulls eyeing up the tall stack of cakes outside the Greggs in Portobello and one even flying off with a treat in its mouth, with the on-looker saying they were "walking all over" the food.

Posted on TikTok by @King John, the man is stood outside the store on Portobello High Street while the driver is nowhere to be seen, although the food lowered from the back of the lorry onto the road, is attracting a large crowd of seagulls.

Although the video doesn't capture the birds on top of the food, the passer-by said that they were walking all over the top layer of cakes before the delivery was carried into the store for the next again day, saying that it was rather concerning to see.

The video is captioned: "Don't be eating at Greggs in Portobello as gulls have been walking over the food and eating it." At one point, a seagull is picking at one item while in the middle of the road, as various passers-by stop to witness the worrying incident.

The man said the birds were swooping in, walking all over the food and making off with some of them, saying the delivery driver was nowhere to be seen while it was going on.

In the comment section of the video, the man added that after speaking to the driver, he said it is a frequent occurrence and there's not a lot he can do to prevent the seagulls being attracted to the food.

Other users in the comments were shocked at what they had seen, some saying they won't be back after seeing the video. Typically, frozen items are delivered to stores every evening to be stored in the freezer, with another delivery of fresh ingredients and cakes coming later in the day or early in the morning.
