Flo Balogun scores, permanent transfer confirmed as Nuno Tavares returns - Arsenal loan latest

There has been even more movement with regard to this season's Arsenal loan army with two deals confirmed over the past week.

With the January transfer window providing the Gunners with an opportunity to reassess what's best for their loanees during the second half of the season, they've already recalled and found new clubs for young trio Miguel Azeez, Brooke Norton-Cuffy and Arthur Okonkwo.

And a couple of names have since been added to this particular list, although Harry Clarke has sealed a permanent transfer to League One promotion-chasing Ipswich Town - reuniting with Tyreece John-Jules in the process - despite making 20 appearances across all competitions for Stoke City.

Furthermore, Ovie Ejeheri's reward for an outstanding spell with Vanarama National South outfit Chelmsford City is a move to Finland where he will spend the rest of the campaign at SJK Seinajoki. The teenager made his unofficial debut for the club on Saturday in a friendly against Paide, keeping a clean sheet in the second half.

For one reason or another, neither Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Tom Smith, John-Jules, Charlie Patino, Mika Biereth, Alex Kirk, Tim Akinola, Mazeed Ogungbo, Salah-Eddine Oulad M'Hand, Omar Rekik, Marcelo Flores or Nicolas Pepe were in action over the weekend which meant it was up to the remaining 10 loan stars to fly the flag for Arsenal.

In the Championship, Azeez lasted 59 minutes on his first start for Wigan Athletic but suffered defeat at the hands of Luton Town, whilst it's been a mixed week for Auston Trusty as he was in the Birmingham City side that beat Forest Green Rovers in the FA Cup and the one that were beaten at home by Preston North End.

Speaking of Azeez, the FA announced last Thursday that he had been charged with improper conduct during an incident on the pitch in the 96th minute against Cardiff City last weekend, and has been given until today (Monday 23 January) to respond.

North of the border, Ryan Alebiosu came on in the 72nd minute as Kilmarnock overcame Dumbarton in a Scottish Cup fourth-round tie. As per the Sturm Graz Twitter account, Okonkwo made a brilliant save on his unofficial debut for the club in a friendly against Wisla Plock.

Nikolaj Moller has made two substitute appearances for Den Bosch over the past week, Runar Alex Runarsson was beaten twice by former Chelsea and Liverpool forward Fabio Borini - not covering himself in glory for the second goal - as Alanyaspor drew 2-2 with Andrea Pirlo's Fatih Karagumruk in the Turkish Super Lig.

Pablo Mari and AC Monza crashed out of the Coppa Italia after losing to Juventus but have moved another step closer to avoiding relegation from Serie A after coming from behind to earn a point at home against Sassuolo and with that in mind, football.london has rounded up the main headlines for the rest of Arsenal's loanees from the weekend just gone.

Balogun scores as Tavares returns

It's now 11 goals for the season in Reims colours for Folarin Balogun after he netted from the penalty spot in their 3-0 win over Les Herbiers VF to advance to the next round of the Coupe de France.

Meanwhile, Marseille have also progressed thanks to a 1-0 win over fellow Ligue 1 side Rennes as Nuno Tavares was on his best behaviour on his return to action after serving a three-match suspension following his red card in the win over Montpellier at the beginning of the month.

Less than 24 hours later, the left-back was spotted in attendance at the Emirates Stadium as he witnessed his parent club beating Manchester United 3-2 to keep their five-point lead at the top of the Premier League table intact.

A difficult day for Norton-Cuffy

On his home debut for Coventry City, Norton-Cuffy was certainly in the thick of the action during his 66 minutes on the pitch against Norwich City. There's an argument that he was blocked off at a corner for the visitors' opener, didn't do enough to stop Onel Hernández for the second before slightly deflecting Josh Sargent's into the net for the third.

He did, however, make an impact going forward as it was his cross that was eventually turned home by Kasey Palmer to give the hosts to within one strike of completing a memorable comeback but the Arsenal youngster was withdrawn seconds after the concession of the fourth goal in the second half.
