Rocky Flintoff, the son of former England all-rounder Andrew, has penned another stunning early chapter in his own story with a century for England Lions against a Cricket Australia XI.

Flintoff, 16, belted 108 from 127 balls as the top run-scorer in the Lions' first-innings total of 319 in Brisbane on Thursday.

The visitors lead by 72 runs, with the CA XI reaching 1-33 in their second innings.

Lions seamer Pat Brown (5-21) snared a hat-trick in the first innings and Test spinner Shoaib Bashir took 1-62 from 16 overs as he prepares for a likely Ashes tour call-up next summer.

Flintoff smacked six sixes and nine fours in his swashbuckling knock, after arriving at the crease with his side struggling at 7-161.

His manner and aggressive style have drawn inevitable comparisons to his iconic father, who is coaching the Lions on their tour.

Flintoff has already made a startling rise through the ranks, having earned a first-class debut for Lancashire during the English summer.

In July, he became the youngest player to score a century for England's under-19s in a youth Test match against Sri Lanka.

Flintoff has played four first-class games and was a late call-up for the Lions' tour of South Africa in December - his father's first as coach.
