SCOTTISH holidaymakers will be able to travel between Glasgow and Cork for the first time in almost five years, as new flights take-off.
The flights between Glasgow Airport and Cork will be carried out by Aer Lingus Regional which operates Emerald Airlines using an ATR 72-600 turboprop aircraft.
The new service, which began on Sunday, will add an extra 30,000 seats to the winter schedule at Cork Airport.
The year-round flights run four times a week on every Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday while offering the only service connecting Glasgow with Munster and the South of Ireland.
The Glasgow to Cork flights were among several routes axed by Aer Lingus after the operator Stobart Air ended its contract with the Irish airline.
Commenting on the route, Ian Lough, head of commercial at Emerald Airlines said: “We are delighted to be expanding our network from Cork Airport with the introduction of our new Glasgow service.
“We are equally pleased to announce the increase in flights between Cork and Bristol. These enhancements underscore our commitment to providing our customers with more travel options and greater convenience.
“By expanding our offerings from Cork, we aim to meet the growing customer demand and ensure our passengers have even more opportunities when travelling from Cork Airport.”
