Flights from one major airport in the north of England are being diverted to Liverpool and other airports after a terrifying incident on a runway.
A Ryanair flight landing at Leeds Bradford Airport is believed to have burst a tyre, closing the runway and resulting in flights being forced to divert to Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Manchester Airport. According to the Daily Express, it is thought the affected flight on the runway is the 8.45am flight from Faro, Portugal.
Several flights earlier today were delayed including the 12.15pm Ryanair flight to Faro, the 1.25pm Jet2 flight to Paris and the 1.30pm Flybe plane to Belfast City. Photos shared on social media showed the plane stranded with tweets claiming that the plane needed to be emptied before it was moved.

Another, shortly after said: "Just been updated. Tug was unable to move the punctured Ryanair, now buses are on the way to try offload pax to see whether it’ll be easier to move. Inbound Girona flight seems to be circling."
The latest update was posted at 2.21pm where the page said that the plane was being pushed back to the gate. It said: "Pushing back plane empty for the first time. Unfortunately, I haven’t got an image of it being moved to the gate."
