Beirut’s international airport has announced the cancelation of several flights to the Lebanese capital following Israel's vow to retaliate after a rocket attack in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights that tragically claimed the lives of at least 12 children.
The canceled flights were originally scheduled to depart from various cities including Athens, Stockholm, Dusseldorf, Addis Ababa, Ankara, Antalya, and Adana on Monday, as confirmed by Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport.
Among the airlines affected, the Lufthansa Group has taken the decision to suspend its flights to Beirut for the remainder of the month due to the ongoing developments in the Middle East. This decision impacts airlines such as Lufthansa Airlines, SWISS, and Eurowings.
Additionally, Middle East Airlines has announced delays for flights originating from London, Copenhagen, Doha, Damma, Dubai, and Jeddah bound for Beirut. The airport has also reported further delays for flights inbound from Cairo and Istanbul.
Concerns over the security situation have prompted the US State Department to issue a travel alert, advising American citizens traveling to and from Lebanon to closely monitor their flights. The advisory highlights the complex and rapidly changing security environment in Lebanon, with airlines reportedly considering temporary adjustments to their flight schedules.
