A flight attendant has explained why staff wince every time someone orders one particular drink on planes.
Jet, a member of the cabin crew who writes a blog about her time on planes, urged people not to buy fizzy drinks when soaring through the air.
The aviation worker does not have a specific issue with the drinks themselves, but the fact that they can be a nuisance to serve to passengers.
Writing in her online blog, she explained that "soft drinks foam up a lot more when poured out of a can", adding that she then has "to sit and wait for the bubbles to fall before I can continue pouring".
In fact when multiple passengers order fizzy drinks, she often starts pouring, takes other orders and then finishes the fizzy drink pours after.
But that's not all.
Not to mention the air inside a plane is much drier than on the ground, meaning consuming fizzy drinks as well as alcohol can leave you feeling unwell. In addition, carbonated drinks can cause gas and heartburn, both of which are unpleasant feelings to have during a flight.
While you may have thought the only real considerations you need to make when ordering something on a flight is how much it is and whether you're actually hungry or thirsty enough for the price tag, according to multiple flight attendants this isn't actually the case.
Cabin crew member Brodie Capron, who posts on TikTok as @brodie.capron, recently took to social media to debunk some common myths - including whether or not tap water is safe to drink on a flight.
Many people wonder whether you should only drink bottled water on flights, amid rumours that the water filter is seldom cleaned. But Brodie debunked these myths, claiming that the tap water on Virgin Australia flights is safe to drink.
She said: "Is the water safe to drink? Yes, it is. It's filtered, and it's clean."
Flight attendant Deja, who posts videos on TikTok as @i.amdejaa, offered a slightly different take, again heaping don't on whether plane-stored liquids are safe to drink.
"When you are travelling on an aeroplane please don't drink coffee or tea," she said, also adding hot chocolate onto the 'no drink' list.
The flight attendant claimed that the "water tanks on the aeroplane are never cleaned, and they are very disgusting".
Instead, she suggested passengers make their own hot drinks in the airport.
One way to enjoy a beverage without thinking about the grime that may be lurking in the plane's tank is to get a cup of hot water before the flight, she advises.
Passengers can do so at the terminal after going through security, so you should have no trouble in terms of liquid allowances.
