Flexible office firm buys Princes Street site

Flexible office provider Cubo has acquired a new 16,000 sq ft workspace on Princes Street in Edinburgh.

It has taken a new lease within 40 Princes Street, a Grade A office building in the centre of the capital.

The new workspace is set out over two floors, with 325 desks available. The office will also include glass lifts and on-site showers.

The new location will officially open its doors in June, with Cubo already claiming "significant interest from a number of corporate businesses" in the capital.

Cubo Edinburgh will be the company's seventh site, with Manchester and a second Birmingham site to be announced shortly.

As well as traditional office space, members also get access to communal spaces, private areas, kitchens, an inclusive barista service - with beer and prosecco on tap - along with a programme of free networking events.

Chief executive Marc Brough said: “We are so excited to have secured what we think is Edinburgh’s most amazing office location.

“It was tricky sharpening our search in a city with little Grade A supply, but the setting, location and quality of 40 Princes Street blew us away when we first saw it.

“The new space continues our rapid expansion and reinforces our commitment to opening in the very best locations across all the UK’s core cities.”

Cubo was launched in 2020 and now operates flexible offices in Derby, Nottingham, Sheffield, Leeds, and Birmingham, with a second site in Nottingham set to open shortly.

Separately, rival flexible office firm Wizu Workspace has expanded its Glasgow offering with a new co-working space at its West Regent Street location, following a successful £600,000 refurbishment project.

Initially launched in early 2022, the site has already attracted clients such as IBM and Nationwide to take up private office space, with the new hot-desking area now added.

"We are thrilled to bring our unique brand of coworking to Glasgow, offering professionals the opportunity to work in a dynamic and modern environment that is tailored to their needs," said Tom Almas, chief executive of Wizu Workspace.

“Our West Regent Street space has already attracted some major brands due to its modern design and central location, including IBM, AND Digital and Nationwide, showcasing the demand for flexible and modern office solutions in Glasgow.

“The new co-working space offers an additional amenity for both our existing and new members, providing a space that fosters creativity, collaboration and productivity.”
