A brand-new ‘flexible’ nursery will open in the heart of Kilmarnock next week.
Flexible Childcare Services Scotland’s nursery will open in the grounds of the CentreStage Village on Monday, August 1.
FCSS say they are offering flexible, early learning and childcare for 44 children aged under five.
Their model allows parents to make bookings at times which suit their existing work or family commitments.
One parent, already registered at the new nursery, said: “My husband works different shifts every week so having flexible childcare allows us to book in when we need it and will make such a difference, while I’m working as it can be difficult working with a baby at home.”
This flexible model has been tried and tested across FCSS’s existing childcare settings. It allows parents and carers to book day care by the hour, and they can change their booked hours every week to reflect their working or study patterns.
FCSS has developed their service to meet the diverse needs of parents, helping them to manage their existing commitments and in many cases distancing them from poverty by providing flexible childcare that allows them to maintain sustainable employment.
A testimonial from another parent stated: “I was very impressed when I went to visit FCSS Kilmarnock.
“The nursery environment is very bright and spacious, and the facilities are top of the range with lots of opportunities for learning through play and development within the nursery.
“We have chosen to send our baby to FCSS as the flexible hours really appeal to us as we can pick and choose what days/times to send our baby that fit in with our work schedules.
“The fact that the nursery is in such close proximity to CentreStage and their facilities is an added bonus.”
CentreStage founder Fiona McKenzie said: “To have Flexible Childcare Services Scotland as neighbours in the CentreStage Village will be such a wonderful support to families and parents in East Ayrshire.
“We cannot wait for the young people to become part of our community and to develop more activities and opportunities across CentreStage as we learn from them.”
Suzanne Jones, service manager at the new Kilmarnock nursery, said: “We’re delighted be opening our doors to families in Kilmarnock.
“The nursery has been created to offer the best possible service for families and the best learning environment for the children we support.
“As well as giving families more choice, we know that the flexible booking options will be a real help for working parents who are often restricted by the inflexibility of childcare.
“We will also be giving children the opportunity to spend more time outdoors.
“I have found that outdoor play provides valuable learning opportunities.
“Planning, creating, and engaging in outdoor play areas for children is one of my favourite things to do.”
The new nursery is now open for registrations where parents can see the space, meet the team and register their children for childcare places ahead of the opening at the beginning of August.
