A FIRE at a block of flats in Edinburgh forced 19 people to evacuate their homes in the early morning and take refuge in temporary accommodation.
Fire crews were called in the early morning to Torrance Park in Clerwood at around 1.40am on Tuesday.
Seven fire trucks were sent to the scene, including a cherry picker to battle the blaze.
While a structural assessment of the building was taking place, residents were given temporary accommodation.
Fire crews left the street at around 4.17am after the building and area was deemed safe.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.40am on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, emergency services attended a report of fire at a block of flats in Torrance Park, Edinburgh.
“SFRS extinguished the fire and there were no reports of anyone injured.
“All residents within the flats were evacuated and 19 people have been accommodated elsewhere until the building has been structurally assessed.
“The fire is not being treated as suspicious.”
