Flames have engulfed the rooftop of a derelict building in a Scots town this afternoon, with fire crews spending hours trying to battle the huge blaze.
Multiple teams from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) rushed to the scene at South Street in Bo'ness on Monday afternoon. Emergency services closed the road off as the flames continued to ensue.
Four appliances and a height vehicle were sent to the Falkirk town. One local man shared images of the fire, showing the blaze ripping through an old building.
A massive hole can be seen on the roof, with smoke and flames billowing out into the skyline. Another image shows firefighters high above the building on the height vehicle, hosing it down with water and attempting to extinguish the flames.
The blaze appears to have caused extensive damage to the building. Onlookers say the fire crews were battling hard to stop the fire from spreading to nearby flats.
A SFRS spokesperson told the Record: “We were alerted at 1.49pm on Monday, July 4 to reports of a building on fire at South Street, Bo’ness.
“Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances and one height vehicle and firefighters are working to extinguish a fire affecting a two storey derelict building.
“There are no reported casualties and crews are still at the scene.”
