Flamengo president confirms transfer talks with Manchester United for Andreas Pereira

Flamengo's president has confirmed talks with Manchester United to permanently sign Andreas Pereira.

It's set to be a summer of change at Old Trafford beyond the end of the season and multiple departures are expected. Pereira has left United four times on loan throughout his time at the club and he could finally be prepared for a permanent move away.

Pereira signed for Flamengo on loan in August and the player has not hidden his desire to remain with the Brazilian side during his spell in South America. The midfielder has become a key player for Flamengo - albeit his form has recently dipped - and the club's president, Rodolfo Landim, has now been asked about the future of Pereira, with a view to a permanent transfer.

Pereira has a clause in his contract to make his loan permanent but it's understood Flamengo want to pay less than that fee.

Landim confirmed talks with United over Pereira and opened up on his club's interest in making the deal permanent.

“Andreas is a Flamengo player until the middle of the year," Landim told Globo Esporte.

"We have a contract with him and we like the player. We’ve already had several conversations with Manchester United.

"I can only say that Flamengo really likes the player and eventually we will be able to count on him. It’s what we want.”
