Armed Forces celebrations began in the Stewartry this week.
Flags were raised in both Castle Douglas and Dalbeattie on Monday and will remain on display until June 27.
The Castle Douglas flag was raised at Market Hill with Lord Lieutenant of the Stewartry The Lord Sinclair and members of the Castle Douglas branch of Legion Scotland in attendance.
The Dalbeattie flag was raised in Colliston Park and the ceremony featured the Dalbeattie branch of Legion Scotland, Deputy Lord Lieutenant Mark Jardine and his wife Ruth.
The ceremonies were part of the build-up to Armed Forces Day which gives people a chance to show their support for the men and women of the armed forces past and present including serving troops, their families, Reservists, Veterans and Cadets.
Events include a parade in Dumfries town centre on Saturday, which will get under way at 11.40am and include representatives of the armed forces.
The council’s civic head, Stephen Thompson, said: “Armed Forces Day is our opportunity to show our appreciation for those that have served and who continue to serve in our armed forces. In Dumfries and Galloway our armed forces are very well supported by people from across the length and breadth of the region and I invite you all to join us on the day to thank them.
