As emergency workers battle against five wind-driven fires in Los Angeles County, the situation remains dire with over 150,000 people under evacuation orders. Here is the latest update on the fires provided by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection:
Palisades Fire
The Palisades Fire, the largest among the five fires, has engulfed more than 15,832 acres in Pacific Palisades, situated between Santa Monica and Malibu. Los Angeles County fire chief Anthony Marrone reported that the fire has already destroyed at least 1,000 structures.
Eaton Fire
The Eaton Fire has scorched approximately 10,600 acres, claiming the lives of five individuals, as confirmed by Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna. Pasadena Fire Chief Chad Augustin mentioned that 200 to 500 structures have been damaged or lost due to this fire.
Woodley Fire
On Wednesday, the Woodley Fire ignited and has already consumed a minimum of 30 acres with containment efforts still at 0%.
Hurst Fire
Starting on Tuesday night, the Hurst Fire has spread across more than 505 acres with containment efforts yet to show progress, remaining at 0%.
Lidia Fire
The Lidia Fire, which began on Wednesday afternoon, rapidly expanded to 80 acres near Acton, a residential community located approximately 50 miles from Pacific Palisades. Currently, the fire is 30% contained.
