Five teenagers will face court over a dozen home invasions and vehicle thefts in west Melbourne last year.

In two of the incidents residents were left with serious injuries, with one man suffering wounds to his hand and the other to his face.

Three 18-year-olds, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old were arrested in December and have been collectively charged with more than 140 offences, police revealed on Saturday.

Police charged the older boys with around 30 offences each, including multiple counts of aggravated home invasion, burglary, theft of a motor car and intentionally causing injury.

The younger two are together facing more than 45 charges including aggravated home invasion and theft of motor car.

The break-ins took place between May and November in multiple suburbs including Albanvale, Sunshine, Braybrook and St Albans.

Two of the 18-year-old men, from Footscray and Caroline Springs, received bail and are due to re-appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court on March 25.

The third 18-year-old man, also from Caroline Springs, will remain behind bars to appear in court on the same day.

The 16-year-old and 17-year-old boys both received bail and will face a children's court at a later date.

Senior Constable Samantha D'agostino said everyone has a right to feel safe and secure in their own home.

"We take these kinds of offences extremely seriously and will investigate thoroughly until we can hold people to account," she said.
