Five stunning Tynemouth properties for sale after it was named one of the best places to live by Sunday Times

Two incredible beaches, lots of places to eat and drink, and a swathe of independent shops mean it's no surprise Tynemouth has been named on the Sunday Times Best Places to Live List.

The list, which was published this morning, selected 70 of the best places to live across the country, with the North Tyneside coastal town getting the nod alongside Morpeth in Northumberland. Judges celebrate improving towns, village or city centres; attractive, well-designed homes and locations bursting with community spirit - the latter those who already live in Tynemouth will be very familiar with.

The article read: "Newcastle’s smart seaside suburb is a longstanding fixture of the Best Places to Live list, and once again, it’s too good to leave out. Whether you’re surfing off a Blue Flag beach, browsing among the 150 stalls in the undercover market or tucking into the freshest seafood at Riley’s Fish Shack, it’s impossible not to enjoy the laid-back lifestyle."

We've taken a look at properties for sale and Tynemouth and chosen five of the best. Here they are!

As well as three bedrooms, there's a living room with an original feature fireplace, an open-plan kitchen with a breakfast bar, and a dining area which leads out into a light-filled yard. Asking price is £400,000 - see the full listing here.

Overlooking King Edward's Bay and Tynemouth Priory, this has got to be one of the best views in the North East. The Penthouse flat has a 'generously proportioned' private balcony, which is where anyone lucky enough to own this would probably spend most of their time.

It also has three bedrooms, including a master with an en-suite, a kitchen and a four-piece family bathroom, while other amentities include a communal front garden and a secure gated car park. Offers begin at £550,000 - see the full listing here.

A little further from the centre of Tynemouth village but still less than 20 minutes on foot, this beautiful family home is just a stone's throw from Tynemouth Park and Longsands Beach. It offers modern and open-plan living and has 'luxurious and trendy' styling and decor throughout.

There's plenty of light throughout the house, thanks to bay windows, an angled roof, skylight and French doors which open out onto the garden. Offers in the region of £575,000 - see the full listing here.
