Five-Star QB Recruit Dylan Raiola Flips Commitment from Georgia to Nebraska

Dylan Raiola, the 5-star 2024 QB prospect and nephew of Nebraska offensive line coach Donovan Raiola, flipped his commitment from Georgia to play for the Cornhuskers in the 2024 season.

Raiola’s switch in his plans comes hours after Georgia quarterback Carson Beck announced that he was returning for a fifth season at UGA. Prior to Raiola’s decision on Monday, the 6’2”, 230-pound signal-caller was committed to Ohio State before announcing his decommitment from the program and committing to Georgia in May.

Raiola chose UGA over offers from USCOregon and the Huskers. The Buford, Ga., resident will now take his talents to Lincoln, Neb., to play for Huskers coach Matt Rhule, who enters his second season in Husker City. He becomes the first five-star commit in Rhule’s tenure and the first for the program since ’08 under former head coach Bo Pelini.

Last week, the Huskers offensive line coach agreed to a new contract extension with a massive raise in hopes of persuading his nephew, according to 247Sports. Donovan Raiola’s salary increased to $500,000 from $325,000 and will now be with the team through the end of next season. He was the only coach Rhule kept on from previous coach Scott Frost’s staff.

Raiola is considered the third-best player and top quarterback from Georgia, per On3 Sports. His father, Dominic, also played for Nebraska before playing 14 years in the NFL with the Lions

Nebraska (5–7, 3–6 in Big Ten) finished the 2023 season on a four-game losing streak after going 5–3 through the end of October.
