Soldiers collapse outside St Paul’s ahead of Queen’s thanksgiving service

A number of soldiers collapsed on the grounds outside St Paul’s Cathedral ahead of the Queen’s thanksgiving service.

Spectators cheered as the Royal Air Force soldiers got back on their feet ahead of the service on Friday morning.

A member of the RAF who was part of the military guard of honour lining the steps to St Paul’s Cathedral was the first to fall.

He was able to get to his feet and was helped away.

Moments later a second member of the military personnel also collapsed.

However, he got to his feet and was helped away on foot from the cathedral, despite a stretcher being brought out.

A witness at the scene tweeted: "A soldier has just keeled over, received medical attention and is now back on his feet with a cheer."

The crowds were heard cheering as the soldier made his way back to his feet.

Up to five soldiers fell during the service , according to reports.

Harry and Meghan joined the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for the celebration inside St Paul’s Cathedral in London.

Hundreds of spectators turned up outside the grounds for the service with some wearing Union flag hats and others bunting over the railings on the approach to the cathedral.

Kate, who was wearing a pale yellow Emilia Wickstead dress and a Philip Treacy hat, walked in the main procession with William, Charles and Camilla.
