The Five Sisters Zoo has welcomed its newest arrival - an adorable three-year-old rescue brown bear called Byara.
The beautiful bear arrived at the West Calder zoo from Natuurhulpcentrum Opglabbeek in Belgium.
They said she is already feeling right at home and spent most of her first day playing and exploring her new surroundings.
The zoo said in a Facebook post: “It is our hopes that she will eventually be introduced to Eso, our other female Brown Bear.
“We would like to express our thanks to The Society for the Protection of Homeless Animals Priyut, Bears In Mind, Naturhulpcentrum and everyone else who made this rescue possible.
“If you are visiting, be sure to pop by our two acre woodland enclosure to see if you can spot Eso or Byara!.”
In 2020, staff at the zoo said a sad goodbye to beloved brown bear Carmen after she passed away.
Carmen arrived at the zoo back in 2012. She and her two sisters Peggy and Suzy had spent most of their lives in a travelling circus until they were taken to a Belgian rescue centre in early 2011.
