Five singer Scott Robinson took to social media to explain what had happened over a blunder in a tribute to his friend and fellow popstar Paul Cattermole. The tragic news that S Club 7 star Paul had died, aged 46, was announced on Friday.
The band issued a heartbreaking statement on Friday (April 7) confirming the tragic news. "We are truly devastated by the passing of our brother Paul," the statement said.
"There are no words to describe the deep sadness and loss we all feel. We were so lucky to have had him in our lives and are thankful for the amazing memories we have.

"He will be so deeply missed by each and every one of us. We ask that you respect the privacy of his family and of the band at this time."
In a separate statement announcing his death, Paul's family and S Club 7 said: "It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved son and brother Paul Cattermole. Paul was found yesterday, 6th April 2023 at his home in Dorset and was pronounced dead later that afternoon.
"While the cause of death is currently unknown, Dorset Police has confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances. Paul’s family, friends and fellow members of S Club request privacy at this time."
Tributes have been pouring in for the singer, who was one of the original members of S Club 7 with bandmates Rachel Stevens, Bradley McIntosh, Hannah Spearritt, Jo O’Meara, Jon Lee and Tina Barrett formed in 1998 by the Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller.
Last night Scott, who joined the pop band Five in 1997, tweeted the tribute: "Such sad news today at the passing of Paul of @SClub7. We wish all close to him the very best. See you in the great concert in the sky some day Paul. RIP. Love Five." But it was noticed by fellow Twitter users that it was posted with the words "Scott, stick this up with a picture."
Scott has since removed the tweet. He explained that the text was written for him by a friend, after being left deeply affected and lost for words by the loss, which he then went on to post.
He said: "I'm so deeply saddened by the passing of Paul From S Club. I didn't quite have the words to express how I feel. A friend wrote something for me which I felt was perfect. I posted the text do not think that this is just a moment in time for me he was a friend and I'm gutted."
Scott received supportive message following his explanation including from @toyebarnacles who told him: "I completely get it. Some times there are just no words." And @cantstoppop said: "Sometimes the words don’t come as easily as we want or need them to. Be kind to yourself x"
@Amanda_Mck said: "Sometimes there ARE no words. Sending love to all who have been touched by his passing." And @nerd__bomber commented: "I’m such a loss for words myself.. it’s just devastating."
