Five shocking claims from Harry's book from William's 'attack' to Charles' 'cruel' comment

Excerpts of Prince Harry's new memoir have been leaked to the Guardian ahead of its intended release on January 10 that reportedly contain some shocking claims.

The book, entitled Spare, details some of the goings-on behind the scenes of the Royal Family. Some of the accusations include Prince William "attacking" Harry and throwing him to the floor and a "cruel" joke King Charles made to Princess Diana after his birth.

He also claims that William and Kate told him to wear a Nazi costume for a fancy dress party back in 2005, which caused a widespread media scandal at the time, The Mirror reports.

Buckingham and Kensington Palaces have refused to comment on the contents of the book, which is available to buy on Tuesday next week.

Here are some of the biggest claims that have been made in the book's content, which was leaked to the Guardian.

William's "physical attack" on Harry

One of the most shocking allegations made in the book is surrounding a fight between William and Harry about Meghan that turned physical.

Harry claims that his brother came to visit him at his London home back in 2019 to talk about their strained relationship and the ongoing issues with the media.

But things became heated and confrontational, and Harry says that his brother ended up "attacking" him in the kitchen after he got him a glass of water.

Harry wrote: "He set down the water, called me another name, then came at me. It all happened so fast. So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out."

He then writes that William told him to hit back, but Harry refused so William left, but later returned looking "regretful". Harry says he later apologised.

King Charles' "cruel" joke

In the book, Harry also describes a "cruel" joke his father made to Princess Diana right after he was born.

According to the leaked extract, the then Prince of Wales said: "Wonderful! Now you’ve given me an heir and a spare – my work is done."

"Don't tell Meg" - and her "terribly sad" reaction

After William's alleged attack on Harry, the Prince of Wales apparently said to his brother: "You don't need to tell Meg about this."

It is said Harry didn't, instead talking to his therapist about it. But Meghan noticed something was wrong after spotting the scrapes and bruises caused by the altercation.

But he claims his wife "wasn't that surprised, and wasn't all that angry". Instead, he says she was simply "terribly sad".

William and Kate's 'approval' of Nazi costume

A separate part of the book has also been leaked to New York's Page Six newspaper, which makes the shocking claim that William and Kate told Harry to wear a Nazi outfit for a fancy dress party.

The Duke of Sussex, aged 20 at the time, caused outrage when he was pictured wearing the soldier's uniform complete with a swastika in 2005.

He recently addressed the incident during the third episode of Harry & Meghan, the Netflix docuseries, saying it was "one of the biggest mistakes of his life".

But he's now allegedly shifted blame to his brother and his wife for the outfit choice after asking them to make the decision between a pilot and a Nazi costume.

He wrote: "I phoned Willy and Kate, asked what they thought. Nazi uniform, they said."

Harry goes on to say that when he went home and tried it on for them, they "both howled".

"Worse than Willy's leotard outfit!", he adds. "Way more ridiculous! Which, again, was the point."

Brotherly nicknames

Finally, another point from the leaked extracts surrounds the nicknames that the brothers have for each other - Willy and Harold.

In one excerpt, Harry writes that he gave his brother a glass of water and said: "Willy, I can’t speak to you when you're like this."

While in another when William apologised but denied attacking Harry, he says: "I didn't attack you, Harold."
