Five people had to be checked over by paramedics after a two-car smash on a busy main road. Emergency services raced to the scene at the junction of Walmersley Road (A56) and Peter Street.
The crash, involving two cars, was reported on Wednesday afternoon (January 18) shortly before 5pm. Firefighters as well as police and paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service were called out to the scene.
The Manchester Evening News understands that five people had to be checked over at the scene by paramedics, but that nobody was seriously injured or needed hospital treatment.
A spokesperson for GMFRS said: “At approximately 4.50pm on Wednesday, 18th January, firefighters were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Peter Street, at the junction with Walmersley Road, in Bury.
“Fire engines from Bury and Whitefield stations quickly attended the scene. The collision involved two vehicles. Firefighters worked to make the scene safe and were in attendance for around one hour."
The busy main road was temporarily blocked off as the two vehicles involved were recovered. Further details about the incident are yet to be confirmed, but Greater Manchester Police have been approached for comment.
