The management of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) here has constituted a committee to probe the alleged ragging incident, following which nine senior students of the college were suspended on Friday.
A second year mechanical engineering student had lodged a complaint with the Tadepalligudem Town police alleging that some seniors had beat him up severely in a hostel room.
NIT Director C.S.P. Rao said the committee comprising Registrar P. Dinesh Shankar Reddy, Dean (Student Affairs) Veeresh Kumar, chief warden Krishna Murthy and two others will conduct a detailed inquiry into the incident.
“The committee will meet the students, faculty, the victim and the accused students and submit the report in three days,” Prof. Rao told The Hindu on Saturday. “Disciplinary action will be taken against the accused students as per the norms after receiving the report,” the Director said.
Meanwhile, the Registrar said that a report has been submitted to the government after conducting a preliminary inquiry into the ragging incident.
