Five Manchester United youngsters train with first team ahead of Tottenham fixture

Five of Manchester United's most promising youngsters were involved in first-team training on Tuesday to help combat the side's continued injury crisis.

Following on from their narrow FA Cup semi-final victory over Brighton on Sunday, United will return to Premier League action against struggling Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday. Spurs are in turmoil after sacking interim manager Cristian Stellini earlier this week following the 6-1 mauling handed to them by Newcastle at the weekend.

United can move nine points clear of Spurs in the race for a top-four place with a win in North London but Erik ten Hag's squad remains depleted with injuries. Bruno Fernandes is the latest doubt after he twisted his ankle at Wembley and has since been wearing a protective boot and using crutches as a precaution.

If the Portuguese playmaker is unavailable he will join Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Alejandro Garnacho, Scott McTominay, Donny van de Beek and Tom Heaton on the casualty list. To combat the shortage in numbers during training, Ten Hag utilised the club's academy to call Marc Jurado, Omari Forson, Isak Hansen-Aaroen, Willy Kambwala and Maximillian Oyedele into senior training.

Full-back Jurado was recently named on the bench in the 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest with United short on full-backs. Oyedele has been on loan at non-league side Altrincham, playing 12 times and scoring four goals, but is still able to return to Carrington for training.

Kambwala, who was signed for £3.5million from French side Sochaux in 2020, has had a torrid time with injuries this season and only returned to action in March. Playmaker Hansen-Aaroen and exciting winger Omari Forson are still only 18 but have enjoyed a strong season for the Under-21s. Forson in particular has impressed with nine goals and three assists.
