Erik ten Hag admitted last week that he will need to utilise his squad amid a packed schedule this season.
The calendar has got even more rammed following the postponements of Manchester United ’s two league games amid the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Reds face playing mostly two games a week for the majority of the campaign and Ten Hag will need to rotate his team.
He has surprised many by deciding to keep hold of personnel who seemed destined to exit. The fringe players in question will be hoping they do get more minutes on the pitch before January.

If they do not get at least a runout in early Carabao Cup and Europa League rounds, then they may seek to push for a temporary exit in January due to the fact that the further the team progresses into competitions, the less likely Ten Hag will deviate from his strongest line-up.
Charlie Savage
The teenager turns 20 next year and currently only has a few minutes of competitive senior action to his name. Alongside Zidane Iqbal, he was one of the leading academy products during the pre-season tour, but will want to be handed more first-team experience before too long or risk falling behind in his career trajectory.
Brandon Williams
The left-back looked to be one of the players set to leave Old Trafford this summer, the 22-year-old sitting behind Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw in the pecking order. After a season of regular football at Norwich, Williams will not want to be starved of minutes which would stunt his progress.
Axel Tuanzebe
Another player who seemed destined to leave, Tuanzebe had a disappointing season last term which involved struggling loan spells at Aston Villa and Napoli before exiting the summer tour early. He will have to battle Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof for game time - a task that will be difficult and arduous. Another loan away may already be overdue.
Teden Mengi
The 20-year-old’s promising loan spell at Birmingham last season was curtailed by injury which will have come as a real frustration for the centre-half who was cutting his teeth in the senior game. Prolonged time on the injury table prevented Mengi from securing another exit, a move which seems inevitable unless he is handed an unexpected break back in the first team.
Donny van de Beek
Van de Beek has featured for just 19 minutes so far this season and his career revival under a familiar face in Ten Hag has not yet come to fruition. The Dutchman joined Everton in the second half of last season and he could look for another January move should his fortunes not have improved by then.
