Five Manchester gigs to see in March - including Jake Bugg and James Arthur

It’s a huge year for live music after the pandemic left ticket holders devastated by cancelled and rescheduled shows.

But venues are once more at full capacity, with a busy schedule of shows spanning a variety of genres.

February saw James Blunt, Melanie C and Simply Red perform to Manchester audiences. And this month, there are even more performances being held all over the city, from the O2 Ritz to Bridgewater Hall.

Those itching to see live music in March can still find some last minute tickets available for shows in Manchester on Ticketmaster - including Jake Bugg and James Arthur.

So here are five Manchester gigs that still have tickets left for their March shows.

Drain Gang

If you’re stuck for plans this evening, Drain Gang are playing at the O2 Ritz.

The alternative rap group hail from Stockholm, with members from Sweden and Thailand.

The group consists of vocalist Bladee, singer and producer Ecco2K, rapper Thaiboy Digital and producers Whitearmor and Yung Sherman.

The collective experiment with sci-fi influencers and robotic vocals to create a new sound.

Texas

Texas, performing in West Lothian (West Lothian Courier)

Scottish alt-rock band Texas, from Glasgow, are heading to Manchester on Tuesday, March 8 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their Southside tour.

The band was founded in 1986 by Johnny McElhone and Sharleen Spiteri on lead vocals, debuting in 1988 at the University of Dundee.

The band will be performing at Bridgewater Hall , playing the album in its entirety, alongside their best hits.

Gang of Youths

Australian indie rockers are coming to the UK with a string of March dates to launch their album ‘Angel in Realtime’, which was released on February 25.

They’ll be stopping off in Manchester on Sunday, March 13 to play the Albert Hall.

Gang of Youths said: “The album is about the life and legacy of Dave's father, indigenous identity, death, grief and God. And also the Angel, Islington.”

Unreserved standing tickets come in at £23 , with doors opening at 7pm.

Jake Bugg

Critically acclaimed indie lad Jake Bugg is bringing his Britpop swagger to the city from his roots in Nottingham.

The Lightning Bolt singer was just 17 when his music started turning heads, 11 years ago.

In 2020, he released three new tracks. Confirming the release of his fifth studio album, Saturday Night, Sunday Morning.

His 2022 tour includes dates in Newcastle, Hull, Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham, Norwich, Cardiff, Oxford and London.

There are some resale tickets left for his O2 Victoria Warehouse show, priced from £38.23.

James Arthur

Having found fame with The X-Factor, James Arthur is still performing in huge venues ten years on.

The chart-topping artist won the 2012 series of the talent-scouting show, releasing a cover of Shontelle’s Impossible, which reached number one in the charts.

Last year he announced his fourth studio album ‘It’ll all make sense in the end’, which was released in November. The announcement was followed by confirmation of a March 2022 tour to support it.

James is playing the O2 Apollo Manchester, on Tuesday, March 22 with resale tickets fom £51.29.
