The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) provided preliminary information indicating that the plane impacted the airport perimeter fence and a passenger vehicle during the aborted takeoff. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that there were five individuals on board the aircraft at the time of the crash.
Marissa Ramirez-Ramos, a spokesperson for the Mesa Fire and Medical Department, sadly confirmed the fatalities but refrained from providing further details. It remains unclear whether anyone outside of the plane was injured or if there were occupants in the vehicle that was struck.
Witnesses described the harrowing scene, with Joshua Golabi recounting how the plane crashed through a metal fence and several concrete walls. Golabi, a pilot himself, emphasized the importance of prioritizing safety in aviation operations, highlighting the need for vigilance and caution.
Although Golabi did not witness the impact directly, he heard the crash and saw smoke billowing from the site. The aircraft was engulfed in flames at one point, adding to the intensity of the situation.
