Islamabad: At least five people were killed and around 25 others injured on Sunday from a powerful LPG cylinder blast in a hotel in Jhelum district of Pakistan's eastern Punjab province, the rescue service reported.

According to the reports, the incident took place in the morning in Asghar Hotel on GT road, which resulted in a collapse of the two-floored building.

Many people were trapped under the debris, said the rescue service.

Upon receiving the information, the rescue workers, police and other personnel of law enforcement agencies reached the site and carried out the rescue operation, local media reported.

The rescue operation was finished within a few hours, in which all the trapped people were rescued and shifted along with the other victims to the hospital, the rescue service said, adding that most of the injured were not in critical condition. (UNI)
