The Israel Defense Forces reported a tragic loss of five soldiers during military operations in southern Lebanon on Thursday. The fallen soldiers were identified as Maj. Ofek Bachar, Capt. Elad Siman Tov, Staff Sgt. Elyashiv Eitan Wieder, Staff Sgt. Yakov Hillel, and Staff Sgt. Yehudah Dror Yahalom, as confirmed by the IDF in an official statement.
Additionally, an officer and two other soldiers sustained severe injuries during the incident. They have been promptly evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment, and their families have been informed of the situation.
Israeli forces have been actively engaged in ground operations in southern Lebanon following an incursion across Israel’s northern border that commenced on October 1. This military campaign is part of Israel's ongoing efforts to combat the activities of Hezbollah in the region.
